Ok, well it took almost two years but I finally did it. I have a nice concrete enclosed space in my basement, so I decided against the fire liner, happy to have the extra space. Decided what the hell, and got the 4g body - 3/8" door upgrade and then added 7g additional sheets on all exposed sides. This gives me over 3/8" cumulative steel thickness in the body. The door is 3/8 but I'm considering giving it another 3/16 sheet as well which would be over 1/2" in the door. Probably overkill. This is about the most steel I could get and still stay within a reasonable weight and cost. Can't stop everything, but it will slow down most common attacks.

Now the wait begins.

Very nice, how long did they quote you on the delivery?

I was told 2 mos on standard and 3 mos with 4 gauge (but I did not request a quote for the extra 7 Ga. reinforcement).

Three months. I didn't specifically ask if the extra welded steel will add time on top of that.  I'm hoping they are overestimating the lead time. One nice thing, I only paid a deposit versus having to hand over the money so far in advance. They are great to deal with so far. I love buying direct from small companies. The ability to customize and get exactly what you want is great.

You will like the Sturdy vault door.  I installed a standard door with dial and panic lock inside. They are a wonderful company to do business with and great customer service.  The panic lock inside was bent upon arrival and they sent out a new one with no problem.  The inside of the door has great storage space for mags and ammo.  The fit and finish is spectacular.  Enjoy!

Make sure you post a pic when you take delivery.  Am in the market for a new safe and Sturdy is a front runner.
