What have you got?
What do you recommend? All i have right now is basically a locker to keep the toddler out. Something small... I have 7 long guns and a few pistols. fireproof maybe. |
| Buy the best you can afford within your budget. I would suggest going as bigger if possible because you collection will inevitably grow over time. I have a Liberty and really like the quality. Sam's Club and Costco carry a few options which garner good reviews but I have no experience with these models. Search out some gun safe reviews on Google and you will come up with a lot of great information. |

I have a Browning TheftGuard with a mechanical lock. Don't want digital as I think it would be to easy for a kiddo to see - plus you have battery failure.
Once you figure out much much you need, get one size up. Once the lady understands that there is a theft/fire resistant place to put stuff, the guns will have company :) Pro-tip: if its big, it's worth it to have someone deliver it for you - especially if there are stairs involved! |

I wish I could have gone larger, but we move too much to have to worry about an oversized item potentially not fitting in a new house. |

I just bought one of these a few months ago http://www.championsafe.com/sport.html
Can't remember if I went with the 31 gun or the 41 gun model... We had a house fire in late August. Thankfully we didn't lose anything. I've never been concerned about theft at all. I was much more conceded about fire when i bought this. Thus is has a 1 hour fire rating over the standard 60 minutes... I got it on sale at rogers sporting goods for $899 with a digital lock. Just remember according to national fire protection agency 1 in 4 people experience a house fire in their lifetime... Which means you aren't buying this just for guns. So make sure it has room for a file box to go in it for birth certificates/loan info/bank info/passports all that irreplaceable stuff... I also wired mine with ethernet and put a network attached storage device in it. That way my computer backup has a little bit of fire protection... |

Beautiful setup Trimdad!
After much research and investigating several burglaries first hand, I bought the Cannon Scout S14. As long as you do not have a ton of guns your good to go. 700 bucks from Cabelas on sale. It is around 300 lbs - empty, and is fire resistant for approx 20/30 min. Easy to use digital key pad. This is the smallest Cannon safe with the Cannon lifetime warranty. Also it is light and small enough to put on a second floor yet too heavy to move (when filled) in case of a burglar get his hands on it. The safe comes with a built in plug for lights or a dehumidifier bar. I have been really impressed with the safe and encourage anyone to check it out who has a smaller gun collection. I fit 3 ARs, 1 Shotgun, 4 Pistols, plus ammo and important papers without issue. |
| I have a Yukon Gold safe made by Browning. It's their lower end line (made in China). My coworker also has one and we are both very happy with them. Mine has 6 long guns, 4 handguns, mags, thousands of rounds of ammo, documents and valuables. I can probably squeeze in another rifle or two, and if I organized the shelves better can fit in a lot more of the smaller items. |
| I just ordered a big horn 24 gun safe from costco 600 to my door. All the reviews I have read say it is one of the best bang for your buck safes. Its normally 800 but was on sale. I believe the model is 19ecb if you wanna check it out.. made my rhino. Tons of great reviews. |
