| Are they as cool as a Mustache with Titties or do ya'll recommend another brand? I plan on buying locks for three exterior doors and would like them keyed the same. |

They're good quality locks for residences. There will be people on here that say buy" x" brand professional grade, pick resistant, bump proof locks made from kriptonite and carbide that will keep Godzilla out of your house. The reality is that no thief is going to pick or bump your lockset. They are going to kick in the door, break the door, pry open or just bust a window. I reinforced my door jams in my house so they could kick in my door, so they took a crowbar to the door and broke the steel clad door instead of messingwith my Kwikset locks. A lock only keeps honest people out.
I'd go with the Schlage, but wouldn't spend any more than that. |

I worked for a family friend/locksmith part time doing residential repairs and installs.
For a house, schlage is one of the better locks before you take a big jump in price to the high security locks like a medico or multilock. when I say big jump, think 2x's the price for the same application. As stated above, 95% of break in's are going to be entered through a broken window or a kicked in door. Very rarely will you see someone take the time to pick an exterior lock on a house when breaking in. It takes some skill, some tools and enough cover and time to do it without being seen. Unless you have solid core doors in reinforced frames and laminated windows all around your house, a schlage lock will be more then enough security. Many of the big box stores like home depot or lowes will have key'ed alike sets with multiple knobs and dead bolts. If you cant find enough in one kit to do everything, take them all to a decent locksmith and have them rekeyed to a single key. Where I worked we charged $10 per lock to rekey it. (also a good idea if you move into a place that has good locks already installed, cheaper to rekey then buy new) High security locks go with a total security package like reinforced doors, door frames, laminated glass, a monitored alarm system. More common in apartment buildings and commercial structures. Not really needed in a single family house |

I do apartment maintenance so I see a lot of locks and I like Schlage a lot. They have a good finish on them for the outside and weather and inside they are much nice then a kwikset, I also like the feel of they key too, I have seen a lot more broken kwikset keys vs a sclage.
If you are getting 3 locks you will not be able to get them all keyed the same from the store, before you even install them take the cores to a locks smith with the key you want made and get it all done at once before you start work. |

I bought three Schlage locks at Lowes in one package with all keyed the same. |
| I was thinking about redoing my house and started looking into schlage. Looks like there is a higher than average amount of negative reviews on the current products at amazon, HD, and Lowes. I wonder if they are having recent quality issues trying to compete on price. |
| You can get them at your local Home Depot or Lowes. On the back of the package, there should be a code. That is the key code. Look through the ones there and you can get key alike locks. If they don't have enough that match, their associates can key them alike for no additional fee. It's kinda scary how few key codes are out there, especially for padlocks. |
