I've searched inside and outside the forum--are there any good electric kits that people like/recommend? i've seen some LED strip kits that look good and have thought about trying to make a setup myself with the LED strips. i like the idea of strips under each shelf and around the door frame.
interested to see what you have and like or dislike. or, are battery kits the way to go? |
| I use a motion sensor, timer, and led rope lights. My safe had the predrilled hole in the back for electrical wiring. I wired it up and now when I open the door, the lights come on. They are set for five minutes. Works great, should have done it the day I brought it home. |

I used this companies setup with great results, Link
Not the cheapest but very seamless and works great, |

I went with this Kit.
Lite Tech Auto The reviews are a little mixed, but looks like it was shipping and stock issues. He was at my Fun Show this weekend and got to see the install the kits the quality first hand. I'll update once everything is installed. |

I just now ordered the large safe kit with an extra 20" strand. I will try to remember to post pics when it gets here! |

Very interested in this as well. I just ordered a sturdy safe and am looking at all the options. The first one I looked at was this:
Liberty Lighting Kit Seems a bit more pricey than the other options listed so far. |
| Well the first update isn't so great. Every thing looks great but I believe the battery pack I received had something wrong with it. When I put the batteries in one of the springs (that go toward the negative side of the battery) started glowing and the smell of burning plastic!!! So I went to the website and sent the litetech auto guys an email about the problem. That was 5 days ago and haven't heard anything. The good thing is that the battery holders are cheap and radio shack has them for 3 to 4 bucks. So I plan on picking one up tonight but I'm not sure if I will get them installed today. If so I will get some pics up! |

Nice thread!
Now I'm going to have to go out and light my safe. Anybody have a line on removable/replaceable rifle 'notches' to stick on the interior to accomodate my shorter barrel guns? The post above show some black plastic rubber notch rows that look sweet, if I could find some like that, I'd custom velcro-tape em where I wanted. |

It's working!! Okay I found a battery holder for the 8-AA batteries at radio shack for $3 and got the necessary plugs to make it work. I came home today and hooked the wires up to the new battery holder. Smoke......smoke and hot!! So obviously....not the battery holder. The only things it could be was a joint that was placed in line or a switch located close to the battery holder. First I cut the switch out then reconnected everything....more smoke. Well then I took the slip connector out and reconnected everything. Ta Da!! Good to go. So the connector was bad, I went ahead and reinstalled the switch in line. Now that it is working all I can say is that it works great!! The culprit! http://i1057.photobucket.com/albums/t397/ryanredsvt/IMG_20130211_201224_600_zps7ffdfae2.jpg Pic with just the house lighting on. http://i1057.photobucket.com/albums/t397/ryanredsvt/IMG_20130211_201201_096_zpse8e0236a.jpg Pic with the lights installed! (I know my safe needs some organizing)

Quoted: It is the Field & Stream 32 + 6. I got it at Dick's a while back. They are usually 899 but they had it for 649 so I couldn't pass it up after eyeballing it for quite a while. It comes with all the shelves but when you pick it up it has the gun racks on both sides. I took the gun racks off the right side and put my shelves in. Its really customizable as you can see by my gaps between the shelves. Also the door has 6 pistol holders and 1 mesh net pocket and 3 zip up pockets. There was a good thread by a guy who's house burnt down and he had this exact safe in it. The safe and the guns survived but I haven't been able to find the thread. Some more pics. http://i1057.photobucket.com/albums/t397/ryanredsvt/2012-12-04_20-30-00_196.jpg http://i1057.photobucket.com/albums/t397/ryanredsvt/2012-12-04_21-49-20_593.jpg http://i1057.photobucket.com/albums/t397/ryanredsvt/2012-12-04_20-30-19_879.jpg http://i1057.photobucket.com/albums/t397/ryanredsvt/2012-12-04_21-49-34_803.jpg Safe in the kitchen. ![]() |
