I am looking to buy a cheap safe for now.  The reason I want to look and purchase this one is because I will use it now for my guns and when I can afford to upgrade to a real gun safe I can use this one for other valuables.  The measurements on this is 42"H x 26"W x 22"D and it has 14 gauge steel.

My question is, will this offer any kind of protection against burglary?  I know that any safe is better than not having one.  I want to purchase this safe to temporarily store my firearms until I can afford a better one.

Depends on what type of burglar you're dealing with.

One who's strung out and empty handed?  Would probably do fine.  One with any sort of tools?  Probably not so well.

For a grand, you can find some 12ga steel or maybe even thicker if you look at a used safe.  I troll the local Craigslist and sometimes a real deal comes up.  Sadly, it's usually when I don't have any extra money.

Call Sturdy, especially if you are Western U.S.

I got a quote on a 2723 for not much more.  They also might have a scratch & dent.
