I'm in the market for a relatively low priced RSC. I don't live in a high crime area, and don't have tens of thousands of valuable to lock up. I would like more than a cabinet, but less than a true safe. I just don't have $2-3k to spend.  I've been doing some research and for my needs I've narrowed it down to possibly two, unless you guys can make some other suggestions

Right now I'm looking at the Big Horn 19ECB and the Winchester 24 gun safe from Tractor Supply. Actually while typing this I was just looking at the Cannon TS6026E

All of these are in my target price range, and most importantly the wife has approved. What are your opinions?

I have a Champion, good RSC for a good price. Search Champion there are a few threads here about Champion.

If you have a Champion dealer, look at the Model T.  My local dealer was selling them for $599 with e-lock.  I did not like the Winchester from Tractor Supply because there was too much "play" in the door.  The Cannon safes from TS were poorly done on the inside.

Any thoughts on the Big Horn?

ETA: What about Stack-On safes? Just saw these at Walmart and they seem to be about as good as any others in that price range.

I went thru the samething.  Looked at the Winchester at TSC as well as the Cannon.  The Cannon doors seems to nearly seal when closed. It didnt have as many door bolts and seemed lighter weight than the winchester.  But the winchester after closer observation was not as good as I thought.  With the door closed and locked you could rattle the door...it had so much slop and play in it I got worried.  I looked at 3 others in the back, they all had this issue.  You could also pull the handle in and out by an inch or so.  The metal seemed less than the rated 12 gauge and it would flex easy.  I know 12 gauge isnt very thick but I will touch more on that in a second.  Now the winchester has tons of bolts, nice locks, and great door organizer but it is definitely a chinese made safe for the steel was just ok.  The cannon seemed to be alright but niether left me with a good sense of any security.  I came across a Champion Model T and really liked it.  Interior is quite nice!  Not that much play in the door steel although rated the same as the winchester just seemed more rigid.   It didnt flex like the Win and the sides seemed much more solid.  Also the fit and finish were better.  It was 650 all in.

I also looked at Stack ons, Sentry, and Centurion by Liberty...none were as good in my eyes as the Champion.  The champion is made in mexico not china...not that there is a major improvement in quality but there actually seems to be after close inspection.  Safes at this price point arent going to stop the determined and those that have tools but to be honest neither is a 11 gauge or even a 10 gauge.  Make sure you bolt it down and place it against a wall or in a corner this will improve on its security and hold off the determined a little longer.  In the end I believe the champion is the best value.
