| I'm replacing a door in my house and have looked at an optional multilock package. Is it worth an extra $250 for adding strength to a door or are they just for show? |
| Ever heard the old saying "Locks are to keep honest people honest"! Its true! My house was broke into Febuary of last year, they got through a $800 steel entry door in the basement, they didnt even mess with the steel door at the top of the stairs, they just busted through the wall in the stairwell. They caught them, we got most of our stuff back, they went to jail. Dumb asses even tried to pry the gun safe open with a screw driver! All it did was chip the paint on the edge of the door. Point being, if they want in they will find a way, all the high security stuff just slows them down, it may discourage the penny anty crook. Slowing them down if you have a decent alarm works best, may be they will still be there when you or the cops show up! You know what might work is some chicken wire hooked to 220volts! A gaint bug zapper! |

The biggest advantage is they cannot be bump picked with a bump key, or picked. Yes someone can still break the door down, but it's definitely a security upgrade. I have three. |
