I ran across one of these at a BJ's Wholesale, I wanted to ask what you you guys think of these?
http://www.sentrysafe.com/Products/291/G1055C_Gun_Safe

Are Sentry safes worth it or junk?

Thanks,
Mike

I don't know that I would even call it a "safe". That thing us only 132 lbs. I can literally lift that over my head. With bolts in only one side, it wouldn't take much to pry it open with a big wrecking bar. I wouldn't buy that  for more than $200.

That would make an excellent decoy safe.

A Sentry safe is better than having NO safe at all..

True. I have a Sentry ProStaff 14 gun "safe". It beats stacking the guns up in the corner of the closet but it won't stop much over a snatch and grab type robber. They're light, if it's not bolted down two people can easily pick it up and go and it's not very strong, a determined robber with tools could make short work of it but locating it in a small closet or limited access space can slow them down a bit.

We use Sentry Safe for the backup tapes at work. They are...not that great.

There is a video on you tube of a guy cutting the exact same model my work uses with a circular saw...completely in half.

I'm betting the gun safes aren't much better.

If it's just to keep kids out, it should be fine, anything beyond that. Not really.

I disagree, I would rather hide my stuff vs. place it all together in an easy to find and steal container. For child proofing and decoy use, great. For valuables, I personally would not.

More like a box with lock.......... I would prefer an upscale Stack-On.
It is better than not having a safe at all..........
its a deterrent.
