| So I am going to be adding a new safe and move the one I have from inside my house out to my shop, so I will have a total of two safes in my shop. The shop is large and has a seperate room that is enclosed, with ducts to heat it in the winter. The summer I don't use the ac in the shop as it's just too expensive. My question is about adding a budget security system that will alert me if anyone enters the shop. I have looked online and like the idea of one with a small keypad, door sensor and motion sensor. I see a lot of options on sites like Amazon and Ebay for around $50 or even less. I don't want something that calls me or is moniotored, just something with a loud speaker that will be a local type alarm to notify me or scare off bad guys. What are some good options for this or are there specific sites that sell decent options for these types of systems? |

I would assume that there is some kind of latching relay that would work... I was positive that I have seen it before, but wasn't able to find it again.....
What I'm thinking of had AC input for power, a dry contact input for the sensor, and an output for a speaker with a switch to select how long you want the speaker to go off for. It was basically a beefy version of the little bell that goes off when you open some store doors, $30 if I remember correctly. You can also do this if you are technologically inclined: SNMP Alarm You can set an action so that if a certain dry contact is triggered, the computer will play a alarm sound. This, however, would require your speakers were left cranked up. I have this setup where it emails me whenever our shop doors are left open after 9 PM, and also switches inside the deadbolt so that I know if the shop was locked or not. |
