well, income taxes are coming in and I would like a quality safe, or as much quality as around $600.00 will get me.

I dont know much about safes, I would like to spend around $600.00 it needs to hold 4-6 rifles, I live in a great area in Arkansas, no theft to ever speak of, but you never know.

I looked at a Sentry yesterday (it was there so I looked) at the airbase PX/BX, for some odd reason I punched it lightly, I guess self-consciously to see if it felt thick or flexed a little and it was so weird, it actually vibrated for 8-10 seconds, the whole safe just shook???

I found one at Academy sports online that is 12 gauge metal, made by cannon, and retails on the cannon site for $998.00 but is $499.00 from academy

cannon gun safe

I checked craigslist for a deal locally but no luck.

I have read that stack-on and sentry are at the low end of safes. so what do you recommend?

there is nothing close to $600.00 on there site, they start at over twice that,,,,, I can see stretching my budget a little, but I cant more than double it.

This deal ends tomorrow.  Although most recommend moving into better things,

sometimes the budget is the budget so you get the best you can for it.

WOW, thanks for the link!!! unfortunately as I mentioned I'm waiting on my tax return which should be 10-12 days away, and I am in the Army, so I dont get paid until the 1st

just my luck, maybe they will extend it or have another sale.

They run that sale on the Bighorn 19ECB a couple times a year.  Unfortunately that is the "classic" style which offers the least protection of all their safes.  But it that's all the money you've got to spend, then that's a whole lot better than nothing!  Tractor supply offers the larger cannon safe on sale for $600 on most major holidays also, but they are stitch welded.  The standard bighorn is contineously welded, not sure about the 19ecb.  If possible, definately try to get a safe with contineous weld. I would say either is better than the Scout.

If you're just keeping a few guns with no excessive value, then there's no reason you should have a problem with a $600 safe.

Considering the fact that most residential burglars will never touch a large safe, the fact that you're using one at all will put you at a very good advantage.  Just make sure you bolt it down.

home depot has cannon safes online. they seem priced really well with shipping included. I am going to pick one up next time I get a coupon in the mail.
