Dry rod has to replace at least 2 safes that I know of from fires. do you have any links? the whole design behind them is pretty simplistic, plus the one i was looking at had the Remington name on it, seems hard to believe they would do that with something that catches things on fire. i guess if you left it on carpet the heat coudl but the design seems hard to believe |

The heater element in them shorts out and causes fires. It isn't from the tube contacting anything. Use a GFCI protected power supply and an in-line low amp fast blow fuse to protect from short circuit fires. You can also consider a low wattage silicone based industrial heating strip. The elements are molded into silicone, which is fire resistant. |
