Go with a golden rod and don't look back.

Dry rod has to replace at least 2 safes that I know of from fires.

do you have any links? the whole design behind them is pretty simplistic, plus the one i was looking at had the Remington name on it, seems hard to believe they would do that with something that catches things on fire.

i guess if you left it on carpet the heat coudl but the design seems hard to believe

The heater element in them shorts out and causes fires. It isn't from the tube contacting anything.

No links, just know the owner of Dry rod.  My last job dealt with him on and off for over 15 years.

He was 3 hours north of us, and we still buy Golden Rod over Dry Rods.

Use a GFCI protected power supply and an in-line low amp fast blow fuse to protect from short circuit fires.
You can also consider a low wattage silicone based industrial heating strip.  The elements are molded into silicone, which is fire resistant.
