| What size rough opening (cement wall) will work for most vault doors? |
|
As mentioned earlier, you will need to decide on a manufacturer first. Then give them a call.
I am doing the same thing and talked with Smith Security Safes (local to me). I spoke with Doug Smith and he told me to leave an opening of 82"x43 3/4" for one of their doors. Good luck! |

Just to reiterate, there is no "one size fits all" door opening. They're all different.
If you absolutely need the dimensions, but haven't chosen a door yet then you should size it for the smallest opening out of the different door options you're considering, then the hole can always be cut larger if needed after you choose your door. |

You might check ebay. From time to time security doors show up. However, the shipping cost could be prohibitive. I bought a Diebolt door from a bank demolition with frame and stainless steel moulding, has a name but can't think of it, for trim around the outside of the door. Cool door big spoke and two combination dials. Called trucking company to get a quote as a private person seeking to ship such a thing it was something $1800 using the firm I work for and their discount it was $900. Door and frame weight slightly less than 6000 pounds. Fortunately, live about a half hour from Dielbolts' plant at the time. Made arragements to have the door shipped to them and they had it delivered.
Door cost $500 shipping $900 and delivery –– will have to look it up but I don't think the whole deal was more than $2k. |
