I'm about ready to jump on my first safe to keep all my guns and ammo in. I was looking at the Liberty Fatboy for it's space.

This is also where I plan on buying it with a electronic lock. http://www.gunsafes.com/Liberty-Fatboy-Gun-Safe-64-Gun-Fire-Safe.html

Too much IMO. I would look for a used 72" tall franklin or lincoln series on craigslist or the like. My buddy just got one for $1000.

Would there be advantages in buying two smaller RSC's instead of a single huge unit?  Easier to move?  Harder to break into?  Less up-front investment?

I'm looking for a place that will do a full delivery and take this to my basement for me. Not to many places do this without a crazy fee and charging me by the mile.

Thats a good question. Would I be better off with two smaller safes. The easier to move would make theft of the whole safe easier though. Also I'm thinking acting fast it's easier to crank open one door and go to town.

True. I have a pick-up truck and friends. $1300 seems like quite a bit to pay to have it delivered and moved however... Look for a used safe and hire movers, I would presume they would probably only be ~$300 or so. Still saves you $1000...

I bought my Liberty Fatboy local and they delivered and set it up.

It is one HEAVY SOB and its bolted down.

I have been very happy with it, it holds all my guns with a little bit of growing room.

It is somewhat theoretical, but I do not see why 2 smaller RSC's would necesarrily be easier for thieves to move than 1 large unit.  Bolt the 2 together.  Any RSC or pair of RSC's IMO should be securely attached to the floor, preferably concrete slab.

I just went safe shopping last night and went to a Liberty outlet in town.  The Fatboy is awesome.  I just wish I could fit in my basement, but access is a problem.

I have a amsec 6040w. Looking at the specs it is about the same size.

Mine was a pain to move. It holds a lot of guns but it is almost too big.

When I buy a new setup for down here it will be 2-3 smaller safes for sure

I'm going for new and I checked with my local dealers and they cost more than the link I posted and still want to charge a delivery fee. I have no truck, rolling with an eclipse. Still not sure what I'm going to do though. Two smaller safes from another brand would cost half of the Fatboy though.

The local farm supply has them for 1200 out the door. Remember the electronic dials break much more frequently than the manual ones.

Everyone I spoke to with an e-lock was happy. One guy I spoke to had his for 6 years so far without any issues.

Well I recently decided to go the route of the Fatboy Jr but I have to wait for it to become available. Also the best price I could find shipped, and installed on a lower level of my house is still at gunsafes.com. I tried calling all my local places and they wanted less but only do drop off at door then they moving comps to take it downstairs make up the remaining cost. I tried to go local.
