Call me paranoid but I had a roofing guy ask me about our dormer today.  He asked if the faux dormer let it light???.... hmmm yeah it does ...since it is an actual fixed window but there is an attic fold down stairway a few feet from it... no alarm.  So essentially this guy was asking if he could take he ladder and bust into my home without setting off the alarm.

Any ideas what to mount to the inside of this window to slow him down?

I would get a sheet of 3/4 plywood and paint one side black then screw it over the window. Cut the plywood to cover the largest area possible.

....yeah...  I thought about it after I posted this and I am going to cut a slab of AC 3/4 plywood and paint the front black.  Screw it into the frame with pre-drilled screws.

Fucking rats....

Got motion sensors on the alarm near that area?

Success.

3/4 AC plywood ( 30" x 44") primed and painted black on front / added more 2x4's at the sides and bottom glued and screwed ( 3" deck screws) with HD Liquid nails / predrilled for (16) 3/8 x 3.5" lag bolts with fender washers.

I joked with the wife that I was going to cut a mercy cross (Josey Wales) in the plywood so I could pick zombies off.  She didn't laugh

Since this is Texas, one thing I will recommend is to put some mirror tint on it then put the plywood back up. Will help with cooling in the summer by reflecting heat. With the black backer it will also be impossible to look past the mirror tinting. You could also put inside hinges on the plywood for an observation point, which also makes it an odd but functional excape hatch.
