I decided to trade a Colt AR-15 Magpul edition for a scoped, with BUIS 556 Swat rifle. I took the 556 apart per the manual and cleaned it. It is practically new in box no wear to speak of. I went to the range and it will only fire one round art a time. I manually cycled the bolt through 30 rounds to zero the scope (Redfield Revenge) 2x7, which it did zero. I almost ran out of windage but i hit a 6 in plate at 100 a printed center mass at 50. yrds. But it will not cycle brass factory or powder coated steel case ammo. I must manually cycle the bolt every time. I made sure I assembled the gas system as the manual stated. Is it possible I closed the gas port all the way and this is the reason it will not fire simi auto? Or is this 556 a piece of crap?.   I hope I did not get a lemon. I understand thier customer service is not very good. Any suggestions before I send it to Sig with a nasty note?  Thank you for the help. I used proven magpul M16/M4 magazines.

Frustrated Sig 556 owner.

Make sure you reassembled the gas plug properly.

Same as above, make sure gas plug is assembled correctly and ensure it's in the right position. My 716 has a setting for single fire.

Ok, I will try this. How do I know what the correct position is? Apparently I can't figure this out or I would not have a single shot Ha Ha? Thank you for the help.

I apparently had the gas plug turned off. Or upside down. I fire 50 rounds steel case ammo with no problems.  Man that thing is nose heavy. Thank you all for your help.
