Is there any rails out there for the 716? I am looking for one a little longer. Thanks
I have a Sig 716 also and yes, they desperately need a whole new longer handguard or an extension, like MI and Vltor make for the SCARs. I've written to PWS, Geissele, Midwest Ind., Vltor and Daniel Defense about the Sig 716 situation. PWS responded that they would send my message to their design department. Geissele replied that they are only working on KAC SR-25s right now. I have not heard anything from the other companies so far, but I will update this thread what I find out.
I'm probably just getting to old but I don't want any more weight on my 716. It's already heavy enough now. The rail thing is great for a lot of people but I just can't see adding things to the gun it does not already have. The only thing I've ever added to any of my rails is a rail cover. Putting a scope on my 716 makes it fun at the range but I would not want to carry it around with it.

FYI aluminum rails are super light and damn near float on water. |
Looking for the same here. I'm 6'6" and the 9" rail on the Patrol FDE is just too darn short. I've been trying to get SIG to offer up the rail that they put on the Precision model but so far I've managed to get folks on the customer service line who don't understand (or don't care) what I'm trying to do. Getting the precision rail would require some modification to clear the Patrol gas block, but I'm down for that if it allows me to get my hand out where it naturally wants to be. The weight factor is negligible in my book and the couple extra ounces will be worth the improved handling characteristics.
