I have an itch to start a new SBR project and was considering the P556 as the base gun. I thought I read somewhere that Sig was going to start including the classic style lower with integral hinge on all 556s, including the P556, instead of the threadedAR style plug. Is this true and if so does anyone have a link to one for sale?

I haven't seen one with the classic lower yet. I think as long as they have ER type lowers, they will continue to get used in the P556 and 556 DMR. I'm with you though, they need to use the classic lower for the P556 and just cap it the same what they do with the P522. Then swapping in a Swiss stock when the form 1 is approved will be easy. Use the ER lowers for the DMR and the "Ban State" 556 rifles. I couldn't wait so I got the P556 and used a 556 Patrol as a donor for the lower and sold the former pistol lower with M4 style stock mated to the patrol upper. |

I have also not seen a p556 with a classic lower, and just like C_Swimm.... I couldn't wait. Bought the p556 and a classic, swapped the goodies and resold the fullsize. I have seen a couple classic lowers for sale on their own though. So that's an option as well. |
