As the price of the 556 Swat Classic came down I had to have one.  Took the gun home tore it down and cleaned it and a few days later headed to the range.  Results seemed mixed, had one case break with the rim extracting leaving most of the case in the chamber.  Removed it and the gun seemed to function fine.  Then I started to notice that I would get 8 or nine shots in a nice group at 100 yards but then one would go out by about 6 inches to the 5 o’clock each time.  Then I started to get more broken cases, usually with Lake City M855 ammo.  I got out the head space gauges and decided to check it out, this was very telling.  The go gauge dropped right in and it locked up like it should, then the no-go gauge did the same thing along with the field gauge.  I called Sig customer service and talked with Victoria, within a few minutes, of me explaining the problem, she had emailed me a shipping label and told me to send the rifle back in.  A few weeks later it was returned with a new barrel and bolt.  Several trips to the range with several different ammo combinations show that it was fixed good.   I’m posting this mostly because I have read a lot on how bad the service is sometimes, and thought a positive story with a happy ending might be nice one and a while

i don't think it's so much bad CS as it is bad QC

I am also very happy with Sigs customer service. I think they are realizing that that too many 556's slipped past without proper QC and now are making right.
My 556 Patrol went back to them in early february with a crooked gas block and picatinny. The rifle needed excessive windage in order to get a proper zero. Three weeks later the rifle arrived zeroed and ready to go. They even included a target showing a dme size group centered in the bull. Good on Sig.
