I just took my 551A1 to the indoor range to sight in and even with maxing out the R windage to the max, the gun still shots 3-4 inches left at 75 feet.

My thoughts

Rear sight is FUBARed
1913 rail is canted
front sight post is canted on barrel

Your thoughts

The front sight is adjustable for windage. The large Hex head screw on on side will move the sight left or right in the dovetail.

So send it back to SIG is the moral of this story then.  Fack me.

Not really what I was getting at. More the post that starts with this...

The AR zeroing method does not work with the 556. If your choosing the short range method at 25yds, the diopter must be set at 300. A 5.56x45 or a 223 is passing line of sight at 25yds and 300yds. When it's zeroed at 25/300 rotat the diopter to 100 and your good for 100yds.

...etc, etc

That may or may not apply. Anyway, while he did send it back, it doesn't look like they actually had to do much to it in order to fix it.

That thread refers to sighting in to obtain proper elevation adjustments, has ZERO to do with a rifle that shoots to far left. Again there is either a bad sight, bad rail, or canted front gas block.

I have a 556 classic, the front sight is canted to the left, if I put the rifle on a rest and use a small bubble level on the reciever rail to level, the front sight is leaning left, just stinkin bullshit !!!
