I love my Sig 556 Classic. I just put some good glass on it and the only thing that kind of bugs me on this rifle is seeing the front sight. It just takes away from such a beautiful sight picture. I do want some type of front sight for back up as the glass is on a quick release and it has the built in rear. Any ideas on how to take off the current factory front sight and somehow rig up a folding one??

Thanks in advance

the front sight is removed by tapping out the spring pin with a punch, removing the "nut" that the pin just came out of, unscrewing the screw, and then drifting the front sight out of the gas block with a block of wood or a brass punch (so as not to mar the finish).

replace with a folding front sight to clean up your view. (ETA: a lot of folks have replaced the original folding front sights with something else. if you look around a little, you can probably find one relatively cheap.)
