For those of you that have one, is the FSB metal or plastic. Just want to know if I would be able to remove that little dovetail filler and install a Classic type sight on it.
Thanks!

The FSB or "gas block" is metal, but you can't just remove the little dove tail insert and put just any 1913 picatinny rigid or flip-up front sight on the FSB.  The 1913 rail is not continuous from front to back, as it contours at the rear of the FSB and blends into it.  From what I gather, you have to have the Sig front hooded sight to mount on it.

Good luck ordering it, as they have one technician/salesman answering the phone and I've waited over 30 minutes to get through.  You can leave a message for them to call you back, but they don't (not any time soon, at least).  Sig service sucks.

The main reason that SIG gets as much of my business as does HK.

Man... I sure hate to put $200 worth of iron sights on a $500 .22LR rifle.  Thanks again SIG ...... NOT!   I'll just use $50 red-dot optics on my 522 and if they break, then I'll get out another rifle.

Just installed one of these on my 522:

Front Sight

The problem is an inexpensive rear sight.  For now, my STS-081 co-witnesses fine with the front sight above.

okay, that's a lot better.  i'd pay < $100 for BUIS, if not to "complete the look", as functional items for practice...

REALLY like the SIG ones, but unless they fall off a truck, it's not happening.  i can buy a whole gun for $200 or a used good optic.  sheesh SIG.

not sure how S&W MP 15-22 can come with BUIS and their price point, it's a damn fine .22LR, but they do.

how long should i wait for my "free rails, and optic coupon" and bolt recall SIG? ;)
