seen a few on funshops.  Reason they are there is because they are 200-500 above the MSRP.

People are claiming down and not panic buying.

Now if you are buying on at a good deal (below MSRP), it will be a good wait.

How about pistols? Any 556P's        to be had?
3/13/2009 6:53:49 PM EDT
[#10]
.223 pistols will be on the future ban list (I hope no ban)

good investment if you leave it new in box.

Well, if you find one decent price.

If you get it through LEO discount, then you cannot resale it.

5 Sig 556 classics and 2 pistol SIG ARs at local shop here.  The classics seem to be slowly selling (maybe all sold by now), the 2 pistol ARs haven't budged for some reason.

My local dealer dropped the price to $1,600 for the pistol.
They have 2 in stock.

Plus tax and another $200 for the NFA stamp.
I already have a bunch of ACE stocks stashed away and
I was planning on fighting for another hundred.

To be honest I'm not sure if I should take the plunge because
I know nothing about this gun.

11C are you still military? See if sig will let you do their mil/le program as it will save you serious cash over that 1600.

I really wanted a Classic, but $2000 (if you can find one) puts it beyond reasonable for me.  The last place I saw them in stock was Mooney's in the EE for those who want one.

just shop around a good price would be 1600-1800.

I just got my SIG Classic, number 27XXX   ...  WOW

They are making them.

Just got a SIG556P (no quad rail, came with red dot) $1599 at Bachman's in Dallas! They have two more and several basic 556 carbines...no classics. S.A.W in Sunnyvale told me they are getting ten 556P's in some time this week JFYI.

Got hold of a .556 folding-stock carbine at the Fort Campbell, KY Post Exchange (PX) a month ago ($1650).  No taxes   Few days ago saw the .556 pistol version for sale there, about $1760.

I don't think they start new variants with a new set of serial numbers.

[#21]
oh, my bad.  27,000 and still going.

Not a bad amount of SIGs in the market.

3/25/2009 11:35:21 PM EDT
[#22]
IIRC, I've been seeing serial numbers above 28,000 lately.
3/26/2009 3:53:24 AM EDT
[#23]
Question is how many different letters the first two are?
3/26/2009 5:12:03 PM EDT
[#24]
I believe they're all prefixed with JS...don't think I've seen any that aren't.  Could be wrong, though.

ETA:  Rifles, that is.  Pistols run off of a different serial number range, and those are still under 5K, IIRC.

Try Top Gun Suppy...  I ordered a Sig 556 "Classic" from them last week for $1,899.00...  I think that this is a reasonable price in today's military style, semi-auto rifle market.

Hell, in my area, Anchorage, Alaska, NIB standard Sig-556s are going from $1,600.00 to $1,800.00 when available...  One local gun shop had one for $2,500.00 and its not even a Classic model, just the basic version. The same guy has a MSAR STG-556 Rail version for $2,400.00 and everybody else in town are selling them for $1,600.00 to $1,700.00...  Go figure!!
