I just got the Swat yesterday. I backed the light out from the base. I put the batteries in and the light instantly came on. The manual for the light says it has a position for "on intense", and "on map read" with in the middle being off.

Mine has two dots on the light head. One goes to strobe, the other does nothing because as soon as I put the batteries in it is constant on???

Thanks in advance.

OK, you must unscrew the tail cap until the light goes off.

This will make the light work momentary contact. Full on is what you have now.
It can be used as full on, or monetary contact, depending the the situation at hand.
My SWAT light is different from yours. Mine has 3 dots, that is the low lumens setting,
one dot is the high lumens setting, and the dash, between the dots is off. I have no strobe setting.
I hope this helps.
