I mailed out my application for my SOT a week ago and noticed that the check was cashed a couple of days ago.

My questions are these:

       1.  about how long from the time they cash my check should it take to receive the license?
       2.  if normally this is a quick turn around, would they mail the license before July 1st and I would just sit on it until the license starts or would they wait until July 1 to mail it out?

Thanks

Between a couple of weeks, to a month.

It is mailed out when it's ready.  If you renew mid-april when you first get your renewal paperwork packet, you'll have your next year's SOT in hand mid-May to early June.

I was told on Friday when I asked status on my sot that the one person who handles this is out until the 11th.  Its on her voicemail.  I expect that means delays

If you don't mind me asking, when did you mail in your license?

1) The SOT payment is not for another license, you are just filing a tax return when you submit the form and payment.  You get a receipt that you paid the tax for the year.

2) If the check has been cashed then you are just waiting for your receipt.  This is a busy time of year for NFA, figure at least three weeks from when the check was cashed until you get your receipt.

by receipt, do you mean an actual receipt?  I am assuming it will come with something that I will need to send to the manufactures/wholesalers that I want to do business with??
I have seen some FFL that show "01-Dealer....." along with something about SOT, will i get a new FFL?

No, you will not get another FFL. That remains the same, the SOT is just a tax you pay.

OK, thanks.
But then the question begs to be asked....What do I send Surefire or any other manufacturer or wholesaler to show that I do indeed possess a SOT?

Your EIN, which will be on the SOT stamp (and you still have to send your FFL).

You will get a receipt that the tax has been paid.  This time of year they are very busy - everyone is renewing.  If the check has been cashed you just need to wait.  It won't become effective until 7/1 so you still have a few more weeks anyway.

Yes.  You will receive a receipt in the mail in a few weeks.  Send a copy of that along with your FFL to the FFL/SOT sending you a Title II firearm so he can fill out the Form 3 to you.
