I mailed out my application for my SOT a week ago and noticed that the check was cashed a couple of days ago.
My questions are these: 1. about how long from the time they cash my check should it take to receive the license? 2. if normally this is a quick turn around, would they mail the license before July 1st and I would just sit on it until the license starts or would they wait until July 1 to mail it out? Thanks |

It is mailed out when it's ready. If you renew mid-april when you first get your renewal paperwork packet, you'll have your next year's SOT in hand mid-May to early June. |

1) The SOT payment is not for another license, you are just filing a tax return when you submit the form and payment. You get a receipt that you paid the tax for the year.
2) If the check has been cashed then you are just waiting for your receipt. This is a busy time of year for NFA, figure at least three weeks from when the check was cashed until you get your receipt. |

by receipt, do you mean an actual receipt? I am assuming it will come with something that I will need to send to the manufactures/wholesalers that I want to do business with??
I have seen some FFL that show "01-Dealer....." along with something about SOT, will i get a new FFL? |

OK, thanks. But then the question begs to be asked....What do I send Surefire or any other manufacturer or wholesaler to show that I do indeed possess a SOT? You will get a receipt that the tax has been paid. This time of year they are very busy - everyone is renewing. If the check has been cashed you just need to wait. It won't become effective until 7/1 so you still have a few more weeks anyway. |

I am an 01 FFL and want to start selling supressors. From what I can find I fill out the form 5630.7, send in $500 and that is all I have to do??? Correct??? Yes. You will receive a receipt in the mail in a few weeks. Send a copy of that along with your FFL to the FFL/SOT sending you a Title II firearm so he can fill out the Form 3 to you. |
