And why?

Both are guys charging you for them photocopying some info packets and mailing you those copies and some gov forms they got for free.  If you like the convenience of that rather than free forms and help from the national licensing center, go spend that money.

None is especially better than the other, I think.

Why waste your money on that? The FFL application is pretty straight forward, and heck the PDF version does most of the work for you! Go to atf.gov and search FFL application.

If it's home based tell you zoning commission that your home that you're doing business out of is by appointment only.  No to hardly any foot traffic.  There will be no signage.  You will have limited hours and you will provide private parking (your driveway) for any clients.

I like your style.  Thats sort of what I have been putting together.  Just trying to get the time together to get up to get the application.  I believe I have to go before a public hearing as well.

Are you applying to increase your gun collection or to run a business ? If you know the answer, you'll get your license.

Good to know.  My intention wasn't really to increase my collection.  I do a lot of teaching.  Wanted to add a few more services and thought it would be nice to be able to offer deals to students.  Plus I need some way to fund the hobby.  Primary job only supports so much of it.

Uhhhhhhhhh...........there never was such a requirement.

ATF requires the licensee "to be engaged in the business of dealing in firearms"........and has never had a regulation that dictated a minimum number of transfers. That said, I wouldn't put it beyond an IOI to use transfers as an indicator of "engaging in the business'. If all the IOI sees at a compliance inspection is acquisitions on the sole behalf of the licensee........you can bet he'll be counseled on what "personal use" vs "business" is.
