I had my interview 6/24 for my '01 FFL.  the IOI lady told me she recommended me for approval and that i would receive my license in 2-4 weeks.  At 5 weeks I sent her an email kindly asking her what was going on, In which she replied that she's done all she can do and  to wait 6-8 weeks.  So here we are coming up on the end of 8 weeks and nothing yet.  The ATF licensing center says it's still at my local field office.  I have a feeling if I ask my IOI again she will tell me wait 9-12 weeks.  Anyone else experiencing this?

Go over the IOI's head and call her Area Supervisor. Demand to know what is taking so long. That timeframe since you've had your interview is way too long.

Had my interview 7/25.  IOI told me if the license didn't come in 2-3 weeks to give her a call.  License came in exactly 3 weeks, was postmarked 8/5.

I ended up calling my local ATF branch that day and started asking for supervisors.  Turns out we were approved within 7 days of our interview, but nobody did anything about issuing our license.  It was just sitting as approved but not printed in their system.  The local branch blamed the licensing center in WV and the licensing center in WV blamed my local branch in San Antonio.  The supervisor in San Antonio really went above and beyond for me, and thought it was complete and utter bullshit that we had been given the runaround for 1.5 months.  He ended up getting me a copy of my license faxed to me that day.  So for those that wait longer than 2 weeks from your interview, call your local branch and get a supervisor.  The first people that answer wont help and will just tell you to piss off and wait longer.

Stay on the supervisor to get it done.  That is where mine got lost.  The supervisor in San Antonio told me that it is the ATF's goal to get your license approved within 2 weeks of your interview.  I would call tomorrow!  You never know what they might do for you right then!
