My timeline so far:
08/11/2011 Mailed Application 08/22/2011 Credit Card Charged 09/19/2011 Interview Scheduled 09/19/2011 Interview Conducted 10/13/2011 License issued at FFLC The IOI called me early this afternoon, saying she was in the general area and could come by in an hour or two if that was convenient; it was. The interview took perhaps an hour and a half, and mostly consisted of reviewing paperwork and practices. She says I should expect the license within a week or so. |

10/13/2011 Update: Well, the "week or so" didn't pan out (no surprise), so I started calling my IOI and FFLC to get the status of the application. The IOI never called me back, even after two weeks, and the FFLC only showed that the app had been sent to the area office on 9/1, with no action since. Attempts to reach my examiner were unsuccessful. Many broken promises to return phone calls later, I finally called the Assistant Chief of the FFLC to ask why it was so hard to get any of her staff to get back to me. Less than an hour later, my examiner's supervisor called me to say that he had issued my license moments before.
So now I have my FFL #, and it's showing up in eZCheck. Now I'm just waiting for the hardcopy license to arrive in the mail. |

I noticed she would respond back to an email with in hours. Getting people on the phone now a days is almost impossible. Mike in MN |

Mike in MN Our IOI usually won't return messages through email. He always calls to answer any questions. It can be frustrating, because I want things in writing. I suspect he calls just for that reason. With a previous IOI, we had no issues getting responses to email. |

Mine seemed reluctant to give me her email address, and suggested that I call instead. Their email address is usually [email protected]. There may also be a middle initial depending on how common their name is. Might try it and see if she responds. I'm surprised you don't have her business card. |

Now that you mention it, when I did get a business card from her I asked if her email address was on it and she said yes, she also stated how many of her co-workers were against having their email addresses on their cards....lol I guess some just do things their own way. I do indeed have her business card; she doesn't have her email address on it. Interestingly, she mentioned that ATF doesn't provide IOI's with business cards; they have to have them printed at their own expense. So, I guess if you have to pay for your own cards and you don't like getting emails from FFLs, you just don't put your email address on the card.
Thanks for the top on the address, though. |
