Hi All,

I am applying for my FFL Type 01.  Do any of you Type 01 holders wish you had gotten the Type 7 so you could assemble AR's and such and sell them as well as exercise the privileges of being a dealer?  Just don't want to limit myself from the
get go if you guys have different input.

Also, I have filled out the app, and have heard you only need to send in ATF copy 1 and not ATF copy 2 as well.  Does anyone know for sure?  I will probably just call the ATF tomorrow to be sure.

Thanks for any help,
Mike

Figure out whether the increased insurance premium for a manufacturer + ITAR registration make it worth it.  It did for us but we do a lot more than assemble AR's.

Copy 1 and 2 are for the ATF, Copy 3 for your CLEO, copy 4 for you.

Bubbles,

Thanks very much for the info!  Probably wouldn't be worth it for me with the ITAR fees!  Would take a single owner FFL a while to recoup those costs.  Atleast for me.

Searched the ATF website and here is the dope for anyone putting in their application:

All Applicants

The applicant only needs to submit copy 1 along with supporting documents to the address listed below. Copies 2 and 4 may be retained for the applicant’s record. Copy 3 must be submitted to the Chief Law Enforcement Officer (CLEO) of the locality in which the premises sought to be licensed is located. Copy 1 should be mailed with payment, photograph(s), 2 fingerprint cards and a signed Certification of Compliance (ATF F 5330.20) for each Responsible Person listed on the application to:
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives
PO Box 409567
Atlanta, Georgia 30384-9567 USA

I think this is a recent change.  Read it somewhere else......

Thanks again,
Mike
