[ARCHIVED THREAD] - wrong dates sot/class 3

Applied for the 1st time for my sot. For 1 Jul 2010-31 Jun 2011. Sent it in 2 weeks ago. Already got it back in the mail for this year! Only four months left! I put 2010-2011, what's the chances they will change it if I call them Monday???

That's why I am waiting until closer to June 30th to send mine in. I think that sucks, they should make it expire one year from the time they cash the check!

I was worried I wouldn't get the full year if I waited. Took over 6 months to get ffl so I figured if I waited I would be screwed. It had dates you were applying for on the form. I hope they change it for me.

You can try, but it's pretty well known that you don't send in your SOT form until early June for exactly the reason you described.

Great, I thought like every thing else the atf does it would be months.

It's not an application, it's a tax you pay so once your check clears then you're good to go. Call them up and at least try and get it changed.

Your FFL took 6 months to get? Is that typical these days or were there special circumstances?

Ya it was over 6 months before we got the interview. We and they had multiple issues.

I called and spoke to the sot branch today, they will hold it and reissue it in July.

Phew. I just sent our app off and I had planned things around a 2-3 month turnaround. After my form 4 last year I guess I shouldn't be so optimistic, but I figure a different dept...

Glad they changed the dates for you BTW. I will keep this in mind for when we decide to go the SOT route.

They told me June, is when you apply for the sot. Took one week to get the wrong date. Lol
