I do not have an FFL, but sold a gun on Gunbroker and just received the FFL to ship to. It looks like it is a copy of a signed copy.

I had a FFL years ago and thought each copy of a FFL must be signed in ink. Has the law changed or did this guy make a mistake? I can't seem to find any info on BATFE's FAQs.

Also, is a 02 (Pawnbroker) FFL pretty much the same as a 01 FFL? I assume they can receive a handgun?

Thanks!

The ATF now allows emailed and faxed FFL's instead of original signed copies.  You can verify the license through the ATF website.  Pawnbroker can receive firearms.

Check to see if the FFL is valid here.

First, there is a HUGE misconception that an individual must receive a copy of the receiving FFL's license. This is not the case. Never has been. Only an FFL shipping to another FFL is required to provide a copy of their license. And yes, ATF does now allow fax or e-mailed copies (original signature is no longer required).

A Type 02 can do everything a Type 01 can, they're just allowed to pawn firearms too.
