listed weight for a 16" AUG-A1 is 7.3 lbs; listed weight for a 16" AUG M1 is 8.6 lbs.  i understand that the receiver and scope mounted rails add a little weight but what caused 1.3 lbs of weight gain?

The weight for the M1 is with the scope mounted.

The M1 with a top rail is the exact same weight as an A3 with top rail.

Also, I would never quite trust the weight listed on gun manufacturer's websites- sometimes they include mags, sometimes they don't, and it can vary even between the same model of gun (yes, it is bad practice, but a lot of time that info is written by people doing adcopy, not by people who know the guns).

i specifically subtracted the mag weight from the M1 weight because the Steyr page specified that they included it.  i tried to make it an apples-to-apples comparison by using A1 (of course with optic) vs M1 with optic
