Hi guys,
1. How is firing the Steyr AUG in the prone position with the 42rd magazine? Is it any worse than firing an AK-74 or AR-15 with a 30 round magazine? 2. How much does a fully loaded 42rd AUG magazine weigh? 3. What pouches do you suggest for the 42rd magazine? |

You can't go quite as low, if you want. But it's not really a problem. 2. A fair bit. About 12 rounds more than what a 30 rounder weighs...
3. Let me know what you find out. I'm looking for RPK pouches, but not finding much. |

The long mag can hit the ground if you're proned out. I generally prefer to use the 30s unless I'm expecting to be standing or kneeling while shooting. Prone with one is doable but not ideal.
42 round mag comes in at 1.4lbs, 30 round mag was 1lb, both loaded with the same 55gr ammo. The 42 round mag will fit in the Emdom AK mag case with the lid closed. The lids on mine are adjusted for 2 AUG mags and one 42 will fit instead. I normally run TACOs, so it's not a problem. |
