This is a military model AUG made for someone.

A3 with Nato stock and PMAG, 1/7 twist barrels with the "US style" tulip flash suppressor, A3 optic, A3 grip rail, full auto hammer pack, and a very interesting top rail.

Interesting. A3M1 receiver with a rather A3'ish looking rail. The flip up sights are interesting too. I like it.

Very cool variant. Are the A3 scopes still in production?

How can you tell it's a M1 receiver?

Type of receiver and the rollpin make it an M1.

Don't know. If they are, the US market won't get any more I guess. US market wasn't too fond of them.

Any of you notice that NATO stock has an ejection port on the left side or are my eyes playing tricks on me?

And I don't see the flats on the tulip flash hider, looks like the original Austrian one.

Thanks,

I completely missed the ejection port while being fixated on the rail.
On closer look, you're right, it doesn't have the wrench flat on the FH.

I thought this was a update package for the Aussie/New Zealand AUG replacement competition.

That looks like a semi pack to me.

Maybe they are making NATO stocks with left hand ejection now? Steyr didn't mention that for the new NATO stocks

I'm sure if Steyr makes the rails we can get them.

No, they're going with the f90 by Thales. Which is like the AUG but also totally different.

That was my thought too; thanks for setting me straight

I bought one and like it. Would've been better as a 3x

+1 on that rail. Add a slot near the back for a sling to loop through and that should be the default 'long rail" on the M1....

Something else about the CL. It has a bayonet lug upside down to fit with the grip rail. One of the CL models has a "bipod"…

I'd like a CL rail, ambi NATO stock (in green), and the bipod they talk about.

Looks like the bayonet lug is pictured, possibly. Very interesting set up.

Agreed. I kicked around the idea of getting one for the theme. But I didn't expect it to replace the T-1 I mounted and imagined it collecting dust. A 3x would of guaranteed its own time slot.

I'm not sure I'd be up for buying anything listed in the poll.
Do I think the integrated BUIS should be standard on any of the long-railed M1s?  Absolutely.
Do I think all NATO stocks should be ambidextrous, and that they should finally release the 'mud' stocks (we're a BIT past April now, no? ) - absolutely.

Would I pay likely $$$$ for a Steyr bipod, which might require the front rail section, which is IMO overpriced today at ~$250 already, plus bipod, VFG, etc.?  I'm not so sure - if it attached differently (bayonet lug?), and was somewhat reasonable in cost, yeah, probably.  Requiring losing the folding VFG for a (random # pulled from somewhat thin air) $500 'accessory' and rail, etc.?  Probably not.
