I like my rfb, not particularly accurate but an extremely handy, hog slaying, truck gun. That said as most know it suppresses like crap with the gas adjust cap all the way off.

I have the 1st gen gas system. I seem to have read the 2nd gen is better for suppressed use or there is another piston available from KT?
I've also read about the gas vent shroud from Tornado Technologies but those were all old posts.

What is the current fix?

Thanks

You can send it in to have it refitted with the Gen 2 gas system, but I don't remember how much it is for that to be done.  You can look at KTOG as the RFB is taboo on this site for some reason.

I had  an issue which required sending mine in to be repaired, at the same time I sent the suppressor in with it and they machined a new piston for suppressed use.

I have a 1st generation RFB and it surpesses great. I use a AAC M240 SD and it is just as quiet as it is on the M16. The only issues that I have (unsupressed or otherwise) is that it won't feed rounds from any magazine over 20 rds. It seems to only reliably feed rds from FN FAL 20 rd magazines. I have 30 rd converted Bren magazines that worked fine in the DSA FAL, but, not in the RFB. I also have 30 rd DSA FAL magazines that jam every second round in the RFB. FN FAL mags are flawless.

Are you leaving the gas adjustment cap on? Mine is overgassed if I don take it off. It functions flawlessly but it's very loud with the cap off.

All this talk of RFB's makes me want to get one but I can't seem to find any with 18" bbls.  All that I have found on the net are "hunter modesl" with 24" bbls.

I remove the gas cap while running suppressed. If I don't its WAY over gassed

I have not touched the gas cap. It works no problem with the AAC 240 SD suppressor.
