Hello all. Have had my Tavor for a few days and read the manual, great manual by the way. It was weird to read an in depth, color, legible, and all English operating manual. I haven't read an all English manual since I was about 12!
Anyway, I am right handed and the right sided 45 degree rail is useless to me unless I want tape switches which I don't. After reading the manual it seems I can move the charging handle to the right side and move the rail to the left. I would have to go over the top for the charging handle but that seems a small price to be able to access my light from the left side. Has anyone done this? Am I missing anything that I won't figure out until it starts malfunctioning? Thanks in advance, pictures always welcome. Pete |

You can move the charging handle. But don't or you'll not be able to reach it with the rifle against your shoulder -- unless your arms are a foot longer than mine. Shoulder the rifle in your left shoulder and see how the bolt manipulates. Probably doesn't. There's a couple of guys claiming to be developing a forearm with an integral light much like the Kriss Vector. I'm holding out for it and an acceptable trigger (but I digress). For now I just stuck a Surefire X300 on the top rail in front of the dot sight and can press the button easily with my thumb. An EOTech in this photo. http://i1154.photobucket.com/albums/p533/chuck_f_s/Service%20Rifles/IMG_1820_zps72f11dc8.jpg -- Chuck Agree with Chuck on this one. If you skip ahead to around the 5:35 mark in my review below you'll see pretty much the same setup in action:

| Interesting idea switching the charging handle sides, but in the manual doesn't it say that the only way to switch the charging handle side is the make the rifle a lefty? I may be wrong but I could have sworn seeing that. As for accessories, I enjoy the stock sights and have an eotech 512 on it. I wouldn't doubt it if somebody will make a tri-rail to replace the front grip piece. |

According to the Tavor operators manual the cocking handle fits on either side of the rifle. I've not tried it. Convert the Cocking Group to the left hand shooter:
a. Disassemble the Cocking Group (see page 65). b. Reinstall the cocking bar and cocking handle on the right side according to instructions in Reassembling the Cocking Group (page 66). |
