Hello All,
I appreicate you taking a look.  I have seen others comment about the discussion on the Vltor recievers but cant seem to find those threads myself.  I am very close to buying one of these from the same dealer

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=329002436

Im looking for some education on exactly what the Vltor reciever means as far as quality and market price. Does it have an effect?  Would this rifle likely have an FN barrel? I know that I am buying into the frenzy but really want an Aug. Kicking myself for being on the AR train so long and not acting earlier.  Any opinions you would like to give are welcome - I appreciate the info.

IMO, the only difference is emotional investment and desire to have the absolute most recent name on the receiver.  They're both (Sabre and Vltor) machined to Steyr's spec and Steyr accepts them based on their spec, not what the contracted machinist wants.  Any of the recent build guns, with a 3USXXX or higher serial number should have an FN barrel.

Couldn't have said it better!

I wonder what his reserve price is? I've noticed this guy had as least 7 guns for sale as of last night.

Someone bid up to $50 under the "buy it now" price and still didn't hit the reserve...

The seller wants 3k out of them it seems.

That's way to high for me. I've see two 20" preban guns sell for that in the past week. I'm willing to wait until summer before I pay that kind if money. I think the panic buying has slowed down. Especially if Steyr starts shipping guns like they say they are at about 140+ guns a month.

It has definitely slowed down. I have been watching the A3's every day since December. Not many are going for over 3k, and lots are not even hitting their reserve and being relisted. I plan on waiting it out. I am on the waiting list with Pete and do not want to pay over 2300.

Same here for Pete's list.  He said today that he's supposed to get about 15 guns in later this week.  I think I'm about number 80 or so on his list. I'll be willing to bet that a lot of people will back out though, so hopefully I'll get a gun before too long.  I'm willing to wait. If I had $3k to spend, I'd buy a preban gun.

Pete's list is long, but I doubt every person on his list will buy since things have slowed down.
In October AUG's were moving slowly, then BAM! Mid December you can't find a reasonably priced
AUG. People got scared and either bought up every AUG available or they stacked deep on Pete 's
List.
Once prices stabilize (which I think will be around 2500), then I'll start looking...
