So I bought an STG-556. I put about 500 rounds through it last weekend with no issues. Cleaned it, and went back to the range this week and was having FTF's right and left with all six of my mags. It'll strip the round, but not feed it. Instead it slams it into the receiver, jams, and puishes the bullet inside the case. Any ideas on how to fix this? I had already bought a Rat Worx bolt as a back up, but not sure if that will help  my issues. Before someone says it, I know I should have waited and bought an AUG.

Okay, I'll bite. When you say it slams it into the receiver, do you have a pic? Sounds like you put it back together wrong.

No I do not. The bolt picks up the round, but the tip doesn't make it into the chamber, it hits the wall right below it and jams between it and the bolt, stopping the bolt about halfway back into battery.

Is there an empty case stuck in the chamber due to your extractor having broken?  It happened to me and took me a few tries (failures to chamber a new round) before I looked into the chamber.

I always start with the extractor with feeding issues. Did you try your spare Ratworx bolt?

The bolt is on its way. I move to Florida next week (just in time) so any further testing will have to wait. I was also wondering if maybe I was using lower power ammo and needed to have the gas set on the other setting? Maybe the bolt was going fully rearward? I think I will try the bolt next and see what happens. Thanks!

Have you cleaned the gas plug?

was the bolt catching the back of the next round (normal) or catching it on the side and pushing it forward?

This is definitely worth checking out. My STG's all needed a break-in period before they'd function reliably w/.223 on the normal gas setting.

Weird stuff. I clean mine about every 3rd range trip and it never fails.
