So I traded for one here on this forum. What to do, in your opinions?

IMHO, contact Ken: http://www.kmaerospace.com/M17s.html

Mine before K&M...

Mine after K&M...

I could not be happier with it.

I've already Google'd and found Ken.  Been emailing him for awhile.  What was the weight difference between the two versions of your rifle? It looks sleek!

weight reduction is not significant.
The slots lighten is up a bit

shorten the barrel lightens it up some more.

but it wont be a light gun.

I like shooting mine better than my FS2000.

mine was a new unfired model I lucked into

I had ken do the full mod package $350

Shortened the barrel (which I am super happy I did)

Installed the Trigger fix (this is the one must do item)

got a new fancy trigger and the titanium firing pin

Can K&M make an extended top rail that would go out over the barrel as to facilitate a longer sight radius for the use of BUIS?

Like the rail Ratwox sells for the MSAR/AUG.

What is the going price on the M17's?

Apparently they're all spoken for now, but I think there'll be a new crop come up, probably competing w/the Aug and msar release. At least, when I come up with any cash.

Old style M17s bullpups come up of GB

On a regular basis. Prices range from

$700 to $1000

Depending on condition

For a decent grade M17s $800 is about the norm

There is a tricked out K&M version on GB now

For $1500.

That price is about what you will spend if you

Get all the options this one has.

If I were in the market for another one

I'd consider making him an offer.

I'll email him and see, as this is something I would be interested in as well.

Yep, whatever weight I might have saved by shortening/slotting was surely offset by the addition of rails, EOTcech, Surefire M900, etc. ... and that's all before the suppressor.

But it balances much better than stock (to me) and the weight doesn't keep it from handling well at all –– it has become one of my favorite rifles since the mods, whereas it was just a novelty piece before.

This is the reply I got from Ken concerning your question:

Never been asked for a rail that extends over the barrel.  Unless it was a tall rail there would be no rigidity and nothing to hold it down.

This is what it looks like for the MSAR/AUG.

(NOT MINE)

I have it on my MSAR and it seem strong.

I don't see how it can not be done on a M17s.

Thanks guys

I was going to try and sell my M17S at the gun show today, but thanks to this thread, I'm going to have to keep it and sent it to Ken.

That top rail looks pretty badass.  When I get the rifle I'll talk to Ken and send him that pic, see if he understands what I meant.

This is from KKF back in the day.

I'm very glad Ken has taken up the mantle to help the M17 community keep our m17's running!!

Well, I got it in the other day and my brother and I went to the range... Then I traded it to him for his S12

He liked it alot more than I did and I got a Saiga out of it.  So the ball is in his court.  I will say that it is a damn fine rifle and maybe another time I'll have another to do with what I would like.
