I don't read a lot about the Desert Tactical Bullpup rifles.

SRS and CRS

I just read about the in my magazines.  Seems pretty advantages to have a very accurate sniper rifle in such a small package.  There's a lot of versatiliy in the setup too with the conversion kits and various barrel swap outs.

Anyone here have any thoughts?  I'm looking for something different for my next purchase.  I was thinking one of the Barretts maybe but I don't know, something like this seems far more versatile and funtional for shot less than 1000 yards.

Said to be excellent rifles.  We've discussed them here a few times over the past couple years.

Wish someone would come out with a viable bullpup conversion stock for popular bolt guns.

Thanks for the info.  I was hoping there'd be some more enthusiasm for this rifle.  It seems like a pretty ultimate solution.  I'll have to do more research.  I would love to have one in 338 lapua.  I'm still in the process of learning all about long distance precision shooting, but the 338 seems like a great round.

They are sweet to be sure. Have you seen how much they cost?  That is the reason most aren't very excited.

I've handled most models of them but not fired one.

They were nice enough, although they didn't feel as solid as a Steyr AUG. The action was nothing special in terms of smoothness, but it would probably improve once worn in. I much prefer the AI rifles with folding stock when it comes to compactness, maybe even a custom Model 700 in AIC.

The carbine was quite cool and would be handy if you were planning more than shooting from a bipod. It was a while ago, but the rifle length versions I don't remember as being particularly light.

DSR is another manufacturer you might like, but make sure you're sitting down before reading their price list!

That is the reason I wont seriously consider one. It may very well be worth it but I just cant justify/afford it. The trigger on them is supposed to be fantastic for a bullpup

A friend of mine had one in .308 with the .338 Lapua barrel for T&E for his department for a while.

The thing is retardedly small, and the trigger really is fantastic. It shot almost as good as the GAP Crusader in .308, and almost as good as my TRG in .338 Lapua.

The bolt throw is good on it, really a good system all the way around.

Thanx for feedback. I've been considering a couple different Barretts, but this seems like a far more versatile platform overall.  I know they're theyre intended for different circumstance but I was reading how quickly you can switch barrels and rails and reach very accurately past 1000 yards if need be or stick with the 16" and be completely effective to 6, maybe even 7 or 8 hundred yards.

It's an expensive setup no doubt, but about the same as the Barretts I've been looking at.

We were actually using the 16" barrel and can out to 1,000 and getting consistent hits.

Watch the Magpul Dynamics PR video. Hits on steel at 1 mile with a 16" 7.62x51.

I have a 16" .308 and though  I haven't been able to shoot it much yet I think I'm in love. The trigger is awesome, comparable to the R700 I had IMO. Recoil is straight back and fairly light. It feels deceptively light because of the length but it is a hefty little porker with my 5-20SS on it.

I can't wait for my can paperwork to clear.

What paperwork are you referring to?  Is there some special NFA stuff associated with this rifle?

Also, I hear this comment a lot about lots of different bullpups.."The trigger feels good for a bullpup." or something akin to that.  Whay are the triggers so much different than a standard rifle... or are they?  I don't know.

The paperwork is just for my suppressor.

And as for the trigger, bullpups usually have a linkage between the trigger assy and the bolt/striker/... because of the rearward location where  a standard rifle's trigger is right there at the action.
