I have two 4th gen STGs.  The one is flawless so I bought another.  I tested the other day and it will only fire when initially charged by hand.  On the second shot it goes "click"  The primer is a full, deep strike when fired but the cases of the miss fires leave almost no make at all.  I repeated this with several types of ammo and two 30rd mags with no solution.  I also tore it down twice for inspection and it was clean, well lubed, and looked perfect.  I ended the day shooting everything single shot.  Any thoughts?  The only mod is a trigger tamer which I had used on the other gun so I had ruled it out as a cause.  Thanks for any help.

did you inspect the firing pin and bolt assembly?

Check to make sure the bolt cam is still intact as well.  If it is broken, it will cause the bolt to not seat fully and/or infringe on the movement of the firing pin.

Yes both the bolt cam and the firing pin are in new condition.

First, pull the extractor and check for accumulated crud in the firing pin channel.
Second, swap hammer packs w/your other STG and check if the problem persists to isolate the problem.

Rifle was unfired and no crud anywhere.  As soon as I can I will swap the trigger pack to check further.  Thanks.

BS.
I wouldn't touch it.
Where did your hard earned money go?
The owners of Broke MSAR rifles should group up.

Get together and do something.
WTF?  What would you do with a new Plasma TV that broke after you had brought it home and plugged it in?

Take it apart and try to fix it?

Where is Ratworx? Send your rifle to Ratworx with a note enclosed.  FIX IT.

Ratworx  has been in bed and at the front lines of the MSAR Parade since day one.

Today,  they are still boasting new rifles and continued Love and Affection out of MSAR?

MAKE THEM. MAKE THEM take care of you.

MSAR is hiding behind Bankruptcy, though, Ratworx isn't.

Numbers matter. Get together and fight.

Wait you say the second shot doesnt leave an imprint in the primer? Are you sure that the hammer is falling on the second shot? sounds like the first actual shot isn't resetting the hammer for the second shot. Did you try this on the High gas setting to see if it does it then too?

Second shot was a very light strike imprint but I will try the high gas setting to see if it makes a difference.  I just cleaned it and all looked perfect  I would rather have some idea why it malfunctions before I send it to Ratworx.  It isn't their fault.

I had my STG do the exact same thing last year. I tore it down at the range and for the life of me could not figure what was goin on with it.

I had Jenns STG in tow so I started to swap parts out. And now get this the part that was not allowing me to fire the next round was.......the cocking piece (the plastic tail on the bolt carrier).

I have a few spares from when Dave ran the show and sent me several.

Now and then I take the tail and reinstall it for shits and giggles and it still will not fire the next round.

I have looked at it hard and compare it to my others and it "looks" exactly the same as the good ones.

Hope that helps...

The knowledge base available to MSAR owners, on this site is huge, with many owners easily having 10 to 20 thousand rounds through their guns.  Companies  are manufacturing replacement parts and accessories like bolts,  sleeves, rail systems and scope mounts.  There should be no problem getting your rifle to function.....

Wasn't too much oil on the firing pin causing intermittent fire for some other guys?  Something about a wet firing pin in the bolt will create suction and slow the firing pin down.  I seem to remember something about that.
