Thinking about getting my USR barrel threaded for a flash suppressor.  I would like to avoid any legal entanglements so am I only allowed a brake permanently attached?  Or can i go with a threaded flash hider that is not permanently attached and be legal?  Thanks.

Hey THere,

What are you proposing to mount on it and what kind of rifle are you putting it on (USR, A1, A2, A3?).

Those aspects likely will matter.

My USR barrel goes in my USR.

I've got a Smith Vortex that i'd like to use.

It is my understanding that once you modify a USR, it becomes subject to 922(r) laws.  So that means if you want to thread the barrel and add a FH, you are going to have to replace several of the parts with US made compliance parts.
