Picked up an E4 from msar.  It came with some aug like mags that are AR-15 compatible.

While I have a ton of good reliable mags........what can I expect from these?

I never see any talk of the mags.  While interesting in looks and I know what they were trying to do - are they any good?

Some folks report that they work fine. Other folks have had SERIOUS issues with them causing failures and even failing to load all rounds or retain all rounds.

I would not count on them as "serious" magazines and would use them only for plinking if they work.  In other words not something for home defense, carbine courses, or competition IMHO.  What is wrong with the XM30 magazines is anyone's guess, but I've heard so many reports of different issues I would say they're an across the board failure in design.

Mine work just fine. I have a lot of rounds through them and have yet to have an issue. That said, like you, I have a bunch of "known good" AR mags also. I will use my msar mags the same as I would use any proven mag. I do use PMAGs for home defense in my MSAR because I like the function of the ranger baseplates in speeding reloads. YMMV.

Pretty much what I was thinking.  I will use them for plinkers.  If any turn out to be reliable I will put it in that stack.

Thanks for the feedback.
