MSAR put the Jagd brakes on the rifles for a while early on (~Gen 2 or 3?). Folks wanted the tulips back, so they stopped using them except on ban-state rifles; these they welded.
If you have a bbl from an early run, it's probably not welded. You'll still need to give it some heat to loosen the loc-tite and back the checknut off. |

Is it a brake or a flash hider? What is the size of the exit hole?
The FH version: this is what was shipped with an early run of rifles until folks complained 
Looks better IMO, and certainly suppresses flash better. The brake version would have a much smaller exit hole. |
