| I have an MSAR STG-556. I'm thinking about getting a .YHM 223 suppressor. Can the stock flash suppressor be removed and the YHM adaptor be put on in it's place? |

are your threads 1/2x28TPI? The way to know is whether or not the silver grenade ring is installed. No ring means 1/2x28 Ring present means 13x1 metric threads I got my flash hider off easily. I just put a thin screwdriver in there and backed it down the slot as far as it would go and twisted it off. The checknut requires heating it till it smokes a bit. A standard 3/4 wrench fits perfectly and will allow you to get it off if you desire to do so. Hope that helps |

There is a small wire like some kind of clip around the end of the flash suppressor, but thats it. |

This may help on identifying the thread pattern. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=43&t=322130 My metric threaded barrel with a YHM QD is supposed to be done on Monday. I'll post pics when I get it. |

The Halon is an excellent flash suppressor threaded specifically for the STG's metric bbl: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=43&t=322221

It's matched to the finish of the STG's barrel and will not leave a gap in the threading. Flash suppression is pretty darn good as well. Check out youtube and search FSG Halon, they've got some great videos. |
