I am on the cusp of buying an A3 AUG. I am debating which optic is best at this point. I would appreciate the opinion of those who have an A3 with optics mounted. Thanks.

Most will say Aimpoint T-1 on a mid mount. Myself using an Aimpoint M2 on a tall mount.

You can get the new optic that the Austrian military is using from PJ's Steyr AUGS. They are $799. Other than that, I'm partial to ACOGs.

Well, I have a brand-spanking-new E4, and I have an Aimpoint H-1 Micro in a LaRue LT-660HK mount.  I guess I go with the majority on this one.  MSAR Dave recommended the setup to me, and I thank him greatly for it.

I'm considering a Trijicon TA-31HG (IIRC, that's the nomenclature - green with the horseshoe reticle) or the TA-33 with the similar reticle, also in green.  MSAR Dave said he prefers the -33, though he didn't say why.  The only difference I see between the optics, other than magnification, is that the -33 has a slightly smaller objective and slightly better eye relief and exit pupil.

I have an Aug A3 with a T1 in the Larue HK mount.  ITs ideal for this rifle.  Takes up little rail space.

I frankly don't see the attraction of a HUGE 1.5 power rail covered optic.  If it wasn't "steyr" noone would look at it twice.  For the money you could get a trijicon 1-4 which would me a much more capable scope and a larue mount.  That will be my next set up for this rifle... when the 20 inch barreles arrive.

ACOG TA33-8 on mine.  I'm very happy with it.  Sits at the perfect height with a TA12 throw lever mount.
