Have most of you been buying your STG's locally and what have the prices been? Anyone ordered one and had it transferred to a FFL and saved any money doing so? My local has always been a war profiteer so i'm checking first.  Thanks

I purchased mine from Ratworx due to the fact no one had them around at that time.  A local dealer now has one in stock for around $1700 cash if I remember correctly.

AR15.com Equipment Exchange.

Gun Broker.

Atlantic Firearms.

Rat Worx.

CDNN Investments.

You should be to find a "new' in box STG-556 for around $1,700 as a "buy now" option. It will cost you around $20 to $30 to ship if you're in the Continental U.S. and you shouldn't pay more than $25.00 for an FFL transfer fee.  If after shipping and FFL transfer fee is added it is still less than your local dealer than I would go print out the ad or price (if possible) and go down to your dealer and give him a chance to match it or come within $10.00 of it. If he can't do that then go the online route.

Atlantic Firearms gives an AR15.com membership discount (or at least they did last time I knew) so email them and tell them you post here and give them your screenname.

Gun Broker is a good place to find good deals along with the E&E here, but buyer beware as with all things when dealing with companies that aren't at arms length. If you're willing to go that route you might be able to swing a real great deal.  I know of folks that have purchased slightly used STG-556 rifles for around $1500 through bids in the past.

Rat Worx has an excellent reputation here for being "dependable."  Haven't heard anyone become the victim of ID theft or get screwed over or wait for something that long when going through them.  I've been at this website awhile now since before the STG-556 was first produced and haven't read a single post with a single complaint about Rat Worx.

Just if you go the online route get the tracking # for your rifle when it ships from the dealer you purchase through.  I would deal with an FFL that owns a gun store if possible, pawn shop as a secondary, and would frankly avoid dealing with "kitchen counter FFL's" unless you know them or your friends recommend them as good-to-go. When my packages arrive I don't let them sit there for long I get right down and pick them up. I don't wait for my FFL to call me.

Remember to know the laws of your state regarding purchase and transport of firearms.  That's up to you to know and make sure the rifle meets all those requirements and that you do as well.

Good Luck. If you have any questions PM me and I'll answer what I know.

Thank you. My local dealer has several in serial # range 2000 -5200 without optics for 1899.00, he also has one with optics, #7099, for 2199.00
I want one with a late # because of engineering updates. I have been told these prices are higher than normal. Ratworx is in Illinois, so am I, so I would
probably save sales tax if I go out of state.
I looked at Gunbroker and the lower priced ones are early versions. One shop blacked out the serial # in the closeup photo so , as you implied, BBW.

Not always.  I got a honey of a deal on a Gen IV on Gunbroker.  Don't give up.  Be patient.

+1 A Gen 4 will come up just have to keep checking there everyday, because they will not stay there for long. If you see a good deal go "buy now" don't risk a good Gen IV over a few dollars.  May even be able to find the most recent Gen V.

Tri-Rails? Do you mean 4 with optic rails and 2 with Factory Optics?

Go to Gun Broker right now.

Red's Trading Post of Idaho is where I purchased my STG-556 through and they did right by me.

They have one new black and one new green Gen IV  or better STG 556 with 9" optic rail available "buy now" for $1,699.99 with a flat shipping fee of $19.00.

They have one new black and one new green Gen IV or better STG 556 with a factory 1.5x optic available  "buy now" for $1,799.99.

Not much of a difference between the optic rail versions, but if you want that factory 1.5x optic you'll save money with Red's.

Lots of people swear by Rat Worx though.

Found one at Reds, but my store front dealers will not do the transfer. Found a home based FFL in my area that will do it, so I'm going to visit him Thursday
and see what he's all about.

Wow!!! Over 160 MSAR STG 556 rifles and related parts Auctions on Gun Broker and only 3 had bids on them

Man, its a buyers market out there

A lot of items are priced at or near dealers cost

With the newer STGs out the prices of the older less desirable ones might drop quite a bit.

What do you guys think? Unless its a hell of a deal who would buy an older out dated STG??

Plenty of people who realize that MSAR fully backs each rifle. Something goes wrong all you have to do is ship it to them and it will be fine. If you could save say $150 or more over a newer GEN V or IV then I'd say do it.

Most older GEN III, II, I rifles are used anyways or being sold at this point by private individuals. I would never purchase a used rifle or even a "new in box" one from a private party for anywhere close to what I could pay for it from a reputable dealer NIB.

I had one transferred for $1400. It came with 4 mags and a side rail. I consider that quite a good deal. IMHO $1700+ is to much.

Prices are dropping on the web, when the E4 comes out the originals will go lower. I'm waiting.
