I am not ready to take the jump to a bullpup.... But I really love the optics on the StG556... Perfect magnification, a great reticule...

A) Will one of these fit on an AR15 with a flat top receiver?

B) Where can you get one without a rifle attached to it?

For an AR I would look at a 1.5x mini ACOG, like the TA44SR-10.

... Those things cost more than the rifle...

I don't need illumination... I would actually prefer to not have it.

I was looking for something more in the $300-$500 range...

Well you can do like I did and get used ones off of EE.

There is one for $550 here.

Back to you original question, I looked at my STG last night and my rail attaches to the receiver with bolts. I don't think you can put a factory optic on anything but an STG without some machine work.
