I'm thinking of buying a GenIV MSAR, but I'm wondering about mag availability.

What sources are there for additional mags and what's the low down on availability?

Thanks.

Give us a call on Monday.  We have thousands of mags I can sell you.  How many do you want?  AUG mags will also work in the Gen 4 rifles if the AUG mag has a good spring in it.

A couple questions......

1) Are you an employee of MSAR? When you say to call you....who exactly am I calling?

2) What do MSAR 30 round magazines go for?

3) If you are an employee of MSAR, are there any third party souces for your mags...or are you the sole vendor?

Bonus question: The new E4 that takes AR magazines. I like it, but have no use for the majority of the rail space. Can those sections be removed? The only reason I'm looking at a Gen IV over the E4, is that I'm not wild about the additional texturing across the rifle. If MSAR mags are reasonably priced, I think I'd prefer the Gen IV. Thoughts?

Here's another good source for STG stuff: http://www.ratworxusa.com/accessories.html

jagdkommando is Dave at MSAR. 814-363-9260 ask for Dave in the gun room, or x19 if you get the voicemail during normal hours. Ratworx has a lot of our stuff if you dont want to go through us. Dave will know what the price is on the mags.

The gun will come with 3 rails, none of which need to be mounted. But as for getting a stock without the new texture, or the mounting points, im not sure that is possible

PS Dave, you should probably identify yourself in your sig or something

I am employed by MSAR.  When you call 814-363-9264 ext. 19 you talk to me, Dave Robertson.  I can tell you about our products, sell you our products, and take care of any problems you have with our products.
We sell our mags to many distributors.  Ratworx, Midwest Gun Exchange, Jerrys, Davidsons, RSR, and Ellet Bros.  We also sell mags direct to consumers.
The rails on the E4 can be removed and installed wherever you want, and you certainly do not have to use them.
The MSAR STG-556 mags are great mags, and both of my current STG-556 rifles use them.  I will own an E4 stock as soon as they are available, but the rifle by my bed will probably be a STG-556 "Gen 4" loaded with 40 rounds of TAP.

Why is that?

And thanks for the intro, I look forward to joining the ranks of your customers.

My guess would be the ability to load the STG-556 to a max of 43 rds...the E4 can only have 31

I thought MSAR was coming out with a 42 round polymer AR15 mag to remedy that?

I still hunt birds with the same shotgun I had when I was 12.  It works very well and has always served my needs.  I already own 2 STG-556 rifles and they are well broken in.  One lives in my truck and one sits right next to my bed.  I trust them 100%.  Why change a good thing?  I also really like the ability to use 42 round mags.

Yeah, Lancer has their new, what is it 45 rounder, coming out?  I don't know call me old school, but I like the AUG magazine design...like the feed lip on it looks more substantial to me than an AR feedlip and the STG mags are built like tanks.  I have ten 30 round MSAR STG magazines right now and two ten rounders, but I still need to get some 42 rounder MSAR magazines.

Trying to balance out buying parts and mags for all my firearms right now before we see another so called "high capacity" magazine ban and/or AWB while not going overboard on spending. No easy task.

AUG magazines are very sexy, as magazines go.  But I have yet to see any mag that comes close to the PMAG in terms of pure durability and ruggedness.  I purchased 20 in prep for my E4 and I dont see any reason to think I will ever need more than that.    I have three HK SA80 mags and three 2007 production PMAGs as "back up"   Magpul/BM broke my heart with the ACR debacle, but I am a customer for life because they make quality stuff, period.

I am also a PMAG fan, they are great mags and I own a bunch of them.  But I take issue with your comment that you have yet to see a mag as durable and rugged as a PMAG.  If you send me your address, I will send you one of our STG-556 mags to test for durability and ruggedness, and I am sure that you will find that our mags are on level ground with any mag out there.

Hell man, I'll tak you up on that deal and run the mag over with my Honda C-RV and the girlfriends Chevy Tahoe!

Dave, first of all, I was in no way trying to disparage MSAR mags, or even Steyr mags.  I was just sounding off about PMAGs as we were discussing the E4  :-)  I will IM ya my address if you would like to send one of your mags along.  I look forward to being a lifetime MSAR customer as well, I'm on the list for an E4 with Ratworx and cannot freakin' wait!!!

I will stand by my offer.  IM me your address and I will send you a STG-556 mag to test for durability and ruggedness.  Do an equal test between one of your PMAGS and one of our STG-556 mags.  I will also send one of our prototype XM-30 mags for you to test.  Post your findings here, if you do destroy our mags in the process I will "warranty" them.  I think you will find that our magazines are as good as any mag out there.

Dave, IM sent with my addy, I will look forward to receiving the mags and will post my findings and opinions here once I have put them through the paces.

I could take one to my jobsite and have it run over by a tractor trailor or a Cat dozer.
