I don't shoot 300wm, but for my 300rum, It cost my roughly 1 buck a round to load for it using the berger 230 grain hybrid target bullet, 99.0 grains RL-33 powder with a 9.5 R primer, that does not include the brass, I've had several thousand once fired cases I've accumulated over the years and never reloaded..It is far cheaper to reload any big rifle cartridge over buying loaded ammo unless you can find a heck of a deal on bulk such as 308wm(7.62x51nato)...Now these prices reflect reloading supply cost as of 3-5 years ago when I last stocked up on stuff..today it will be more, but it will still destroy ammo cost out right... |

Hornady precision hunter 200gr eldX is $3.50 out of stock or $6 in stock. You can buy a 50 cent 200 eldX, 15 cent primer, 60 cent powder charge and 20cent brass. So about $1.50 a round. Or if you’re still loading 4 cent primers and 30 cent primers, much cheaper. |

My major complaint is he starts a lot of load testing too hot and he doesn't factor his barrel length when comparing load data to his recorded velocities. His latest video tested accuracy for M1 Garand loads and he fired every shot resting the forward hand guard on the bags! This bench technique is counter-productive and his target revealed its shortcomings. He produces a lot of content and is worth watching, just remember my caveats. |

Older thread but I figured it would be better to ask here than to create a new one. I picked up my first 300 Win Mag last week, a Ruger American Go Wild. We have had astonishingly good luck with Ruger Americans being extremely consistent and it seems like LOTS of other people have too. I got to shoot it today with some Norma 150 gr SP and it did not disappoint. Plain jane hunting ammo, nothing special, yet the holes were touching at 50 yd on the first outing. That is as far as I got to shoot it today and it will be a month or so before I can get to anything longer than 100 yd. I was amazed at how the brake and recoil pad made this such an easy-shooting rifle. It sounded incredible w/ my Nomad LT as well. Anyways, to the point. I will be purchasing the cartridge-specific reloading tools this week and was wondering if there is a brand that is better than others for reloading belted cartridges, as this is my first. My presses and other dies are all Lee, which I've been plenty happy with. My knee-jerk reaction is to just buy the Lee 4 die set but thought I'd check with the Hive before doing so. I have read about the Willis die specifically for belted cartridges, but don't know that I will be doing the kind of volume to justify it. If it is the best then I will buy it, but if it isn't completely necessary then I will stick with Lee or something similar. I bought this for hunting but will also be shooting steel out to 1000 yd along w/ my 6.5 Creedmoor. I will not be competing with it. Thanks in advance! |

Good timing to bring this thread to the top. I have been debating the merits of 300 WM, PRC and Norma for almost a year now. Stopped into my local shop and there is a low mileage GA Precision Hospitaler with an ATAC R on the used gun shelf in 300wm. Very tempting! My goal from the start was to build a gun around the 230 Berger. That gun just may do it. |

Anyone ever use Superformance for 300WM? Or more specifically, this powder. |

Any love for Accurate MagPro? Cheaper than H1000 ($43 vs $58 per pound, so significant). Spherical, so that is always nice. Reloading data from 150 to 240 grain bullets. |

| I had great hopes for IMR 7977, but so far have tried 168gr, 175gr, 190gr, and 220gr hpbt bullets. None of these loads were moa, with the 190s coming closest at about 1.75". Using 5 shot groups in a Weatherby Vanguard. |
