I'm not wise in the ways of reloading yet as I'm still learning. I was given several 8 pound jugs of powder, 2 of Bullseye and 3 of Titegroup. I only want to load 230 gr fmj and 200 swc in 45 and 147 jhp in 9mm for suppressor use.
I have load data for both but not to sure what would be best to use for my application? What to start with? Obviously I'm not wanting to get high velocities but need recommendations on which of the two powders to use for each cal and a decent starting point? Thanks ahead for the help!

I think bullseye was made for .45acp and 230gr. ball and there's plenty of load date at the powder manufacturers site for both powders/bullets.  147gr subsonic 9mm should be easy to do as well. Being new to reloading I think I would stick to the manufacturers data for now.

I didn't see 147 grain data for either

Yes a good friend of over 30 years. He switched powders and gave me those! We normally get each other guns, gear and other various shiny things as gifts for birthdays and Christmas. I have few friends but those I have are gold to me!

We always give each other anything the other isn't needing.... think of it as a combined collection! Nfa, ammo, pretty much anything but our wives.

sorry I cant help you with your loads.  I don't load those combos.

I like bullseye the best out of those two choices for 9mm, but I don't shoot suppressed.

I have Lyman 49th and it's my go-to for pistol loads. Especially with cast bullets. The 50th is out now and would be the best one to get IMHO.

I've alwlllays liked the Hornady manual because of the number of choices and the range of the data.

Titegroup is great for 230s. Service Pistol shooters use 4.8 grains for 50 yard, full power stuff. 4.2 grains is great for 25 yard, lower recoil ammunition.

4.0 grains of Bullseye is the classic charge for 200 or 185 grain lead semi-wad cutter ammunition.

4.1 of Titegroup works well also.

Load some up, and enjoy.

4.0 of Bullseye with a 200 LSWC is an awesome target load.

4.0 grs Clays also shoots nice.

Target shot offhand at 20 yds. 5 shot groups on left, 10 shot groups on the right.

3 powders with the name Clays.

I'm talking about the one on the right. Aka plain Clays.

If you are looking to make subs, its pretty hard to beat TG and heavy bullets.  230s and 147s both work great with it.  Both are actually the primary loads I shoot.  Easy to shoot, almost no recoil, and are definitely subsonic from a suppressor.
3/29/2017 9:02:01 AM EDT
[#27]
So the best powder to stick with for subs would be Titegroup?

Bullseye for standard 230 loads and LSWC 200 grain stuff?

How about lead 120gr 9mm rounds.....bullseye?

Would it be wise to stick with titegroup for all?

so many questions the books dont seem to answer

In 9mm with a 120 gr cast bullet, 3.0 grs clays is a mild and accurate load.

I load to 1.10 OAL to fit the tight throat of my CZ 85, this load also work well in my LC9.

Bullseye works great for all of the above.
I also like it with coated lead 147.
When I couldn't find BE I used TG, pretty similar performance.

I guess the safe bet would be to make a load of each with both powders and try em out.

seeing what Lead 45 and 9 PC boolits go for I figured it is a no brainer to cast my own..... just the load is where I am having issue. so many to pick from, having bulk in 2 powders I am hoping to come up with a good way to use both

Your Lyman 50 will have many cast bullet loads.
